Setting Up Your Computer to Connect to Exchange
The first step in using Exchange is to install our security certificate onto your computer (or any other device that uses Exchange such as a cell phone, or other PDA). Due to costs, we use a self-signed certificate. Certificates are used for encrypted connections and identification; connections between your computer or other device and the Exchange Server, making your data secure and trusted.

To install the certificate:
  1. Start Internet Explorer (IE) and in the address bar enter the URL https://mail.synodanw.org/owa
  2. In the IE window that is displayed, click Continue to this website.

Notice the error at the top of the page. This is normal for self-signed certificates.
  • Click View certificates.

  • Click Install Certificate.

To make sure the certificate goes to the right place

  1. Click Place all certificates in the following store.
  2. Click Browse.

  • Click the Trust Root Certifcation Authorities folder and click OK.

Your Screen should now look like this...
  • Click Next to continue.

  • Click Finish.

You will get one final warning message.
  • Click Yes.

  • Close all open certificate screens and the browser (Internet Browser).

You are finished installing our security certificate!
