Installing the Certificate
Adding our Certificate to your Computer using Internet Explorer 7
Setting Up Your Computer to Connect to Exchange
The first step in using Exchange is to install our security certificate onto your computer (or any other device that uses Exchange such as a cell phone, or other PDA). Due to costs, we use a self-signed certificate. Certificates are used for encrypted connections and identification; connections between your computer or other device and the Exchange Server, making your data secure and trusted.
To install the certificate:
Start
Internet Explorer (IE)
and in the address bar enter the URL
https://mail.synodanw.org/owa
.
In the IE window that is displayed, click
Continue to this website
.
Notice the error at the top of the page. This is normal for self-signed certificates.
Click
View certificates
.
Click
Install Certificate
.
To make sure the certificate goes to the right place
Click
Place all certificates in the following store
.
Click
Browse
.
Click the
Trust Root Certifcation Authorities
folder and click
OK
.
Your Screen should now look like this...
Click
Next
to continue.
Click
Finish
.
You will get one final warning message.
Click
Yes
.
Close all open certificate screens and the browser (Internet Browser).
You are finished installing our security certificate!
