Each summer, the Synod of Alaska-Northwest sponsors a week-long seminar on Interim Ministry Training. Interim Training is intended for those presently engaged in interim ministry and those inquiring about this ministry. Committee on Ministry members and Presbytery Staff Persons with responsibility for congregations in transition will also find the training helpful. The training is proving to be beneficial for all pastors working with congregations in transition and transformation. Elders and Commissioned Lay Pastors are welcome as well. A presbytery's Committee on Ministry endorsement must be provided if one expects to serve in a contracted "interim ministry position."

Basic Interim Training consists of 60 contact hours plus a Practicum. The contact hours are divided equally between two Residency Weeks – Week 1 (30 hours) and Week 2 (30 hours) separated by a Practicum which combines experience in and reflection on some aspect of interim ministry.
